Limnophora tigrina (Am Stein, 1860)
This is one of a number of Flies with similar markings. Limnophora tigrina (Muscidae) is very similar to a number of flies from the Genus Anthomyiidae, so care has to be taken with identification and really requires a specimen under the microscope to be 100% certain of ID. With a patchy UK distribution, the NBN Atlas lists no Nottinghamshire records, but is is known from Netherfield Lagoons and (in the photographs below) from Edwinstowe STW, where it was photographed in October 2020.
