Liancalus virens (Scopoli, 1763)
This is the largest of the Dolichopidae and seemingly rare in Nottinghamshire. Recorded at Netherfield Lagoons by Peter Smith in October 2020 and on the walls of Woodborough Church in January 2022, Liancalus virens is typically found near waterfalls, fast flowing streams and at seepages underneath bridges. Thanks go to Peter Smith for providing the photographs (lower two) who found this species underneath the railway bridge at Netherfield Lagoons and which looks to be the first Nottinghamshire record.
