Hydrophoria lacifer (Harris, [1780])
A century ago, Hydrophoria lancifer was widely recorded from many sites in Nottinghamshire by several interested entomologists of the time. But such has been the general lack of interest in recording Diptera, there have been few (if any?) Nottinghamshire records since the 1950's. There is nothing to suggest that Hydrophoria lancifer has declined, so it should still be commonly encountered, even well into the Autumn months. This one was recorded from woodland at Gleadthorpe in June 2020.
