Eumerus funeralis (Meigen, 1822)
A small and very compact Hoverfly, this Eumerus funeralis was photographed in a garden at Mapperley in Nottingham. More commonly known to gardeners as the Lesser Bulb Fly, it is a common pest of Daffodil bulbs. Although it would be expected to be widespread in Nottinghamshire, the only other record we have had sent in to us is from Attenborough NR.
