Epistrophe eligans (Harris, [1780])
Found in good numbers at Lound Wood Eakring in early May, this is a very common species and much smaller than the similar Eristalis tenax. When photographing several E. eligans, We found them to be surprisingly approachable and quite easy to photograph.
