Dolichopus popularis (Wiedemann, 1817)
One of many very similar flies, which cannot be identified from photographs and a specimen is really required. Dolichopus popularis is probably fairly widespread in Nottinghamshire, but the difficulties in identification and the lack of interest in our Dipterous fauna, means there are few modern records.
