Dinera grisescens (Fallén, 1817)
This Tachinid is something of an unknown quantity in Nottinghamshire. There are two species of Dinera in the UK and difficulties in their identification, may be the reason that there appears to be no previous VC56 (Nottinghamshire) records of any of either species. Probably fairly frequent in the county, as the larva is a parasite of the caterpillar of the Small Tortoiseshell butterfly.
