Dasysyrphus tricinctus (Fallén, 1817)
A distinctive hoverfly, the nicely marked Dasysyrphus tricinctus favours woodlands and produces two broods a year. This one was photographed nectaring on Creeping thistle at Eakring Flash in July 2006.
