Culcididae (Mosquitoes) have largely been neglected by the county's naturalists and there are currently very few modern records of any of the species known from Nottinghamshire. Culiseta annulata is a well marked Mosquito, with distinctive bands of white on the legs. Common throughout the UK, it occurs in a wide variety of sites sites including ponds, ditches and even in garden water butts. Adult females feed both indoors and outdoors on a variety of hosts including humans and birds. | ||
