This is probably a somewhat under-recorded beetle in
Nottinghamshire, with identification made difficult due to the presence
of the commoner Malachius bipustulatus, which is a more bronze
coloured beetle, having a small amount of red towards the front of the
pronotum. Cordylepherus viridis is smaller than Malachius
bipustulatus, is slightly more elongated appearance and has a more
distinct blue colouration and no red on the pronotum. Both are found in
grassy, often flower-rich sites, where they can be found on the
grassheads of a range of grasses. |
