Compsilura concinnata (Meigen, 1824)
Aside from an historical 1938 record from woodland close to Market Warsop, there appear to be no other records of this Tachinid in Nottinghamshire, until four adults emerged from the pupa of a Hummingbird Hawk-moth Macroglossum stellatarum, collected from my Market Warsop garden. Well over a dozen larvae were collected across several weeks and reared to adult, but only the one larva was found to be affected. The species was identified as Compsilura concinnata, a Tachinid known to prey on many types of lepidopterous larvae.
