Cheilosia scutellata (Fallén, 1817)
This seems to be an uncommon Hoverfly in Nottinghamshire and indeed, there are no records listed on the NBN Atlas. The seeming lack of county records of Cheilosia scutellata, may just be due to it being a relatively dull and less easily identified species, receiveing little attention from local naturalists. However, there are records from Attenborough NR, Budby South Forest and Sherwood Forest CP, but the most recent is from the Idle Valley NR, where it was found and photographed by Pauline Bradford in August 2018. Our thanks go to Pauline for allowing us to use her photographs.
