Cheilosia bergenstammi (Becker, 1894)
A widespread but local Hoverfly, usually found within the in the vicinity of Ragwort. As such, it can be present at brownfield sites, rough grassland and other locations where Ragwort grows. The NBN Gateway shows that historically, Cheilosia bergenstammi has a patchy distribution across Nottinghamshire. It has been relatively well recorded from the Sherwood Forest area, but the two photographs from the Idle Valley NR, were kindly sent to us for inclusion by Pauline Bradford.
