Bibio reticulatus (Loew, 1846)
A small Bibio which has distinct black wing veins and a noticably dark stigma. Bibio reticulatus is almost certainly under-recorded in Nottinghamshire (as is Diptera in general) and this is a species of woodland and ancient woodland in particular. The female illustrated, was found ascending a Beech trunk at Hangar Hill Plantation in late March 2021.
