Beris vallata (Forster, 1771)
This is another Soldier Fly with almost certainly, a much wider distribution than the map would suggest. Beris vallata is one of six species of Beris occurring in the UK, and these can all be identified from good photographs by a combination of leg and abdomen colour. Beris Soldier Flies are usually found resting on vegetation, often allowing a fairly close approach.
