Asparagus Beetle Crioceris asparagi (Linnaeus, 1758)
This colourful member of the Chrysomelidae family (Leaf and Flea Beetles) is likely to be present on cultivated Asparagus grown in gardens and allotments within Nottinghamshire. Certainly, every patch of Asparagus checked for this beetle, has failed to reveal both larvae or adults, which are conspicuous. They eat the leaves and are considered a pest speciesd by commercial Asparagus growers and gardeners alike. These adult beetles were found in two Market Warsop gardens.
