Amobia signata (Meigen, 1824)
There appear to be no previous Nottinghamshire records of this small, attractively marked Sarcophagid, until two records came within the space of a week in July 2018. Amobia signata is associated with a range of Hymenoptera, being a cleptoparasite of several species of solitary wasps. The one illustrated here, was found waiting for its host (in this case Ancistrocerus parietum) to return back to the nest and allowed an incredibly close approach, unusual among many insects.
