Alphitophagus bifasciatus (Say, 1824)
Something of an uncommon species in Nottinghamshire, with just three records of which I am aware of at the time of writing. Its lack of records in VC56, may well be due to Alphitophagus bifasciatus's small size (around 3mm long) and so it's likely to be somewhat overlooked and under-recorded. Nationally, there are records from the south-eastern counties (Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire etc) and clusters of records from Warwickshire, Shropshire and Cheshire. The individual below, was found in a manure sample taken from near Ollerton in December 2025. There are records from Clumber Park in 2023 (Dutton, A.) which came a year after one from West Burton Power Station (Wilson, R.I.) in 2022.
